One of America’s new citizens, Simon Strauss lead the regatta 85% of the time.  At the last leeward mark rounding, they went to the starboard gate (looking downwind) while Full Throttle went to the port gate.  By the time they reached the finish, Brian Porter and crew on FT had pulled ahead just enough to take the overall win.

In an incredibly strong field, Simplicity’s worst finish was a 14th.  If there were no throw outs, they would have come in second overall while Chris Larson would have become the National Champion for the second time in 3 years.  As it was, Strauss finish a third third.

Here’s the crew line up…

– Simon Strauss  – 2007 Charleston Race Week Champion; 2007 USMCA Northeast District Champion

– Bora Gulari -  Here’s a YouTube interview with Bora from the Moth World Championships.  Bora helped Chuck Holzman on Flyer ’02 win the 2007 Grand Traverse Yacht Club M24 regatta; he’s won a bunch of other stuff, but I’m having trouble calling it up using Google.  Add a comment if you know about is sailing accomplishments.

– Richard Core

– Rebecca (Becky) DeMore — with Sail22.com, Becky arranges housing and lots of other things for top sailing programs.  She just finished up racing Farr 40s and is off to Annapolis to set up for the NAs.

– Jane Delashmutt — helped Simon win the 2007 NE District Championship; Jane was part of the Larchmont YC team that placed 2nd in the 2008 Wilson Trophy regatta.  The Wilson Trophy, known as the “Wimbledon of Sailing,” is the premiere international team racing event in the world.
