The prices you're quoting are for just the boat. You need to include the trailer, sails, TackTick, etc., to get an apples to apples comparison with the "all in" price I'm quoting.

The Rocket 22 has been around for several years, but hasn't garnered the critical mass to make the National racing scene exciting. In the Southeast, at least, there just aren't enough of them.

Cool boat, but I doubt it'll stop the M24 or M20.

You should look at the Rocket 22. With a PHRF at around the 105 to 109 depending on location. The Rocket is build in Canada by the same builder that just won Sailing World's Best Club Racer for the Andrews 28. They build a great boat and it is thought that it is faster then the M24. Just need a good M24 sailor to sail the Rocket 22. The boat is priced at around $40,000 Canadain or $32,000 US.

Everyone I talk to loves the Melges 20. If it can gather enough sailors and keep prices within reason, it might be destined for greatness.

Just sailed the M20 on SF Bay last night. What a treat. We had two dads and two 14 year old boys. The boys skippered and had a blast and they want in!

I am interested in becoming active in the fleet when I move to Charleston. What club do most of the boats sail from?

thanks,

Why not consider the Rocket 22? I am from the Netherlands and also here I feel the Melges 20 is overpriced.

The Rocket is both suitable for racing and cruising with the family. I have not sailed it personally yet, as the 1st Rocket 22 has still to arrive in Europe. But I am seriously considering to order.

Go the Mossman! Looks like the top 6 or 8 are really mixing it up. Porter is solid, but there is a lot of flux in the rest of the top 10.

I wonder who gets the sponsorship money from Audi. Do you think that Melges pockets it? Shouldn't that help to get that price point down? It seems like they stand to make a lot more profit on this boat vs. the 24...
