A bunch of the M24s were out practicing today. Simon Strauss was on the water. Cary Siegler was out with his finance, brother and various other close associates. Now that Cary lives in Rhode Island he’s calling his boat Rock Steady. Check out the new logo for this hot graphics designer.
The M20s were also out in force. Four (4) were out around noon doing windward-leeward laps. Justin Walling who was not out in the morning said they were headed out after lunch. The M20s are so new that the sailors still seem to be getting a feel for the boats. Their gybes don’t appear as crisp as a top-tier M24 gybe. CRW may go a long way towards curing that. The more they compete against each other, the better idea everyone will have of what’s fast.
As the seabreeze built to a steady 14+ knots in the afternoon, a bunch of the Vipers took to the harbor for some pre-race sparing and tuning.
The SB3s also went out as a group.
The big boats didn’t seem to be practicing as much. Ned Goss and Will Schaller on Cal Huge’s “Jubilee” reported they practiced during the morning. They have a rockstar from the Annapolis North sail loft on board.
