The following picture was taken from the end of Hibben Street in Mount Pleasant. There was medium heavy overcast and a steady 10 knot breeze. No white caps where present. Weather Underground is predicting a 70% chance of rain, but it looks more likely to occassionally drizzle than pour. They are also calling for the breeze gradually shift from the WSW to W and the WNW and decrease slightly in speed. The tide predition is
2009-01-11 14:11 EST -0.65 feet Low Tide
Pre-race weather on January 11.

Ooooh. That looks cold.
Today, during the practice race, the breeze is supposed to hit 20 knots, but the high will only reach 52 degrees.
Too bad the breeze is forecast to decrease throughout the week.
The regatta starts Wednesday.

The new PredictWind website provides wind direct and strength predictions for Charleston Harbor. It’s a new service so locals aren’t sure of it’s accuracy yet. But it’s an interesting data point.
